Both new products will have an updated design – the look will be something between the current AirPods and the AirPods Pro with shorter legs. The fit is also expected to be improved, but whether there will be silicone tips is unknown.

The updated case will have a Find My notification speaker and a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning. Apple will also add hearing aid functionality, allowing AirPods to serve as an alternative to traditional devices of this type.

AirPods 4 will go on sale in 2024 – possibly in September, along with new iPhone models. Apple plans to release a new version of AirPods Max in the same year, but the update will be limited to new colours and the addition of a USB-C charging port. And the AirPods Pro won’t be updated until 2025, and there could be quite a few improvements there.
